We are so used to the idea of “healing” being a quick fix presented to us by a surgery, pill, or a week long “cleanse”. But this is not how the body works. The body works on a much longer timeline of months and years. We are a complex system of interrelated parts that heals in strategic layers as the body becomes ready to tackle more toxins and damage imbedded deep in our tissues.

People are sometimes surprised to hear that almost six years after the start, I still experience healing unfolding in my body. Every year I become healthier than I was the year before- new things that I didn’t even know could improve continue to refine themselves. This is what happens if you embrace healing as a lifelong practice- not an acute time period that will pass so you can get back to “normal”.

Here are some experiences on my healing timeline:

-It took me A YEAR just to get through the initial stages of detoxing my gut

-It took me A YEAR AND A HALF to heal my gut enough that my food reactivity started dissipating

-It took me TWO YEARS of multiple interventions coming together to recover fully from my chronic fatigue

-It took me THREE YEARS of consistent practices to heal enough from dysautonomia that I could tolerate being at high altitude without a flare

-It has taken me FIVE YEARS of consistent practices to really start experiencing the true meaning of “nervous system regulation”- despite having recovered from notable mental health issues years ago.

-Almost six years into my healing journey and I still find ways to improve my ability to self regulate- still have times where I spontaneously start detoxifying- still notice shifts in the way my body assimilates nutrients.

Imagine what is in store for you, if you stick with this journey as a long term lifestyle overhaul.
